The Sherwin-Williams Company, parent company of Thompson's WaterSeal, makers of Timber Oil, asked Dot Matrix to brand this new line of premium stains that nourish and beautify any exterior wood. The design had to resonate with the "outdoorsy, do-it-yourself, working man." Starting from scratch on the look of a new product line is what designers dream of! To find a visual "hook," we thought of the essence of the product, which is, of course, timber. This bold design came to the forefront in virtually every design review we had with our team. It's safe to say it did with focus groups and the Sherwin-Williams marketing team as well.
